Building the Bateau 14 canoe
I added some reinforcement to the bow. This is not in the original plans either. You can also see I have installed the gunwales.
These are the decks I created. Here I didn't follow the plans. The plans call for a deck done with 1/4 plywood. That didn't feel were strong enough, so I used 3/4" wood that I had laying around. I cut 2 triangles for the deck, and I joined them with a 3rd piece (you can the 3 parts in the picture) that allowed me to give the deck some curvature (the section of the middle piece was triangular).
Here I am finishing the gunwales. I didn't have that many cramps so I made them out of PVC pipes. Since you don't need that much pressure when gluing with epoxy, they did the trick.
WOrking on the gunwales. Everytime I work with Epoxy I use a mask.I have read so many bad things about epoxy that I will not take a chance. Better safe than sorry!
